Bridges

Do you feel that you are lacking confidence because of missing teeth? There are several dental solutions to fill in the blanks. One option is a bridge.

Porcelain, the material of a bridge, is remarkable in its ability to replicate both the form and function of original teeth. Porcelain can provide the longevity, durability, and aesthetic you desire.

A fixed dental bridge is a permanent prosthesis attached to remaining natural teeth. In other words, the remaining natural teeth are used as anchors for the prosthesis teeth. Fixed bridges are historically the best alternative for people missing a tooth or two because the installation is overwhelmingly successful and the result aesthetically pleasing. The porcelain can be sculpted to replicate the look of natural tooth enamel and its solidity gives your bridge a strong base, able to withstand most natural tooth functions.

Bridges are known to fit comfortably within the established bite pattern. They can also vividly mimic tooth enamel with glass-like whiteness and translucence, which allows light to penetrate and scatter, as it does with natural organic teeth.

Unfortunately, bridges can also present some problems, namely because the natural teeth that lie on either side of the bridge are filed to accept the appliance. This step in the bridge-making procedure may make these teeth more prone to bacterial plaque accumulations, decay, periodontal disease, and a possible need for future root canals.

The maintenance of a bridge is actually quite simple. Treat your bridge in the same manner as you would typical teeth, with routine brushing and regular flossing. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled to evaluate your bridge shortly after it’s placed, so the dentist can diagnose any effects and see how your mouth is reacting to the treatment.
